Princess Beatrice Has Given Birth!

by Katie Hodgkins

Buckingham Palace has announced that Princess Beatrice has given birth to a baby girl!

The new baby girl was born at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London at 23:42 on Saturday night, weighing a healthy 6lb 2oz! No name has been announced yet – we wonder what the new parents will choose.

A palace spokesperson has told the public that the couple are “delighted” to announce the safe arrival of their new baby daughter. The statement shared on the official social media platforms of the British Royal family added:

“The new baby’s grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news. The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf.”

Princess Beatrice was admitted to the hospital on Friday, sparking speculation as to whether she had given birth as it was being reported by the press that her father, Prince Andrew, was en-route to visit her at her bedside. Her husband Edoardo is understood to have been at her side throughout the birth.

The new baby girl is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, the eleventh in line to the throne, and the fourth born this year – there is definitely a Royal baby boom at the moment!

The couple, who got together in 2018, live together in an apartment at St James’s Palace although there is talk that they are house hunting in the Cotswolds. In addition, it is thought that they have hired a £1,000-a-week nanny from the famous Norland agency and a £200-a night maternity nurse to help them through the tough early days of new parenthood!

Will the baby have a title?

It is predicted that their baby will not have a Royal title as the couple opt to bring her up out of the spotlight. Current succession rules mean that the baby will not automatically be titled, while the Queen could offer a ‘courtesy title’ as a gift if she chooses to give Edoardo the gift of an Earldom, according to Town & Country.

The newest Royal baby will have plenty of playmates, as recently there have been lots of births within the extended Royal family; Zara and Mike Tindall’s third child, Lucas Philip Tindall was born on March 21, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten Windsor was born on June 4. Princess Eugenie gave birth to her son August with husband Jack Brooksbank last February.
