Rosie Ramsey Speaks Up About Newborn’s Ear Adjustment

by Kloe Forster

Rosie Ramsey has spoken out about her newborn baby boy Rafe’s non-surgical ear adjustment.

The podcaster and social media influencer posted on her Instagram stories about the treatment her new baby was offered for his ‘ever so slightly pointed’ ears.

Rosie gave birth to Rafe at The Royal Victoria Informary (RVI) Newcastle the hospital trust currently offers the ‘Ear Buddies‘ treatment to patients. She said she has received a load of messages from people on social media from people who were’nt offered the service at their own local hospital but the service is available for parents to access online and refer themselves at home.

How does the Ear Buddies procedure work?

“When your baby is born, the cartilage framework of the ears is extremely soft because of Mum’s hormones. Some squashing of the ears is natural at birth, but if the ears remain an odd shape after 48 hours, or if they start to stick out, this will quite quickly become permanent as the cartilage hardens. EarBuddies splints re-mould the cartilage folds in a baby’s ears to restore the natural curves and hold the ear close to the side of the head so that when the framework hardens in the controlled shape, there is a permanent, surgery-free correction.”

Rosie previously thanked staff at the hospital she gave birth at for their efforts on her instagram page saying: “I wanted to take a moment to share my appreciation and gratitude for all the staff at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) Newcastle.

“Truth be told I was rather nervous about having a baby during a global pandemic. Not something I ever thought would happen if I’m totally honest! But I needn’t be. The staff were impeccable.

We are loving the motherhood and life updates Rosie shares of her beautiful family and how candid she has been about everything. She’s a breath of fresh air that we all need right now! Keep it up Rosie!
